The Monsaraz Grande Reserva White 2023 reveals an elegant and complex expression of the Alentejo. Produced by CARMIM in Reguengos de Monsaraz, it combines Antão Vaz and Viosinho grape varieties in a limited edition of only 3,300 bottles, aimed at those who appreciate white wines with structure, freshness, and depth.
The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo skin maceration for approximately 12 hours to extract aromatic compounds from the skins. After pressing and clarification of the free-run juice, fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels. This is followed by 18 months of aging in the same barrels, with bâtonnage after fermentation, contributing to the wine's texture and complexity.
With a crystalline appearance and a defined citrus color, it presents aromas of ripe white fruit, dried fruits, and delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is structured and intense, maintaining a freshness that balances the whole and leads to a long and persistent finish.
At the table, it pairs well with oven-baked fish, cod dishes with balsamic notes, and semi-cured cheeses. A white wine to be enjoyed at leisure during a special meal, or to offer to those who enjoy discovering great Portuguese wines.
