The Holy Waters of Carvalhelhos are said to have been discovered in 1915 by a shepherdess who washed her sore feet in them and was cured. They became famous when a photographer from Porto arrived in the region and documented his own recovery.

After 100 years, the medicinal properties of the waters of Carvalhelhos remain unchanged, demonstrating the quality and nobility of its aquifers.
